IMail Web Messaging now has a spell check feature which allows the user to check for spelling errors before sending a message. The spell check allows users to select or add dictionaries with which to spell check. Spell checking is enabled by default for all new user accounts. If the default setting is changed, then the administrator must enable spell checking for either a domain or a user.
To spell check a message before sending it:
Click on the Compose Tab.
Enter information into the given fields. Text must be entered into the Body field in order for the spell check to work.
Select the dictionaries that you want to use by clicking on them (for more information on individual dictionaries see Dictionary Explanations below). Multiple entries can be made by holding down the control key while clicking on the dictionary names.
Click Spell Check.
By default, the Spell Checker will display any misspelled words in red, as well as displaying the number of misspelled words at the bottom of the Spell Checker window.
The Spell check feature comes equipped with seventeen dictionaries to aid in spell checking. If no dictionaries were selected to be installed during the installation, they must be installed manually by the administrator before a user can access them. For information see Installing Dictionaries for Users. The dictionary files are word lists that are in a compressed file format and are not editable. The user dictionary is editable.
User Dictionary (userdic.clx). This dictionary is created for the new user. Words can be added to or removed from user dictionaries. Words in user dictionaries may be offered as suggestions for misspelled words.
American English Dictionary (ssceam2.clx). Contains American English words.
American Legal Dictionary (sscela2.clx). Supplements the American English dictionary with words related to jurisprudence, law,criminology, and law enforcement.
American Medical Dictionary (sscema2.clx). Supplements the American English dictionary with words related to anatomy, diseases, health care, generic and trademark drug names, and medical research.
Brazilian Portuguese Dictionary (sscepb2.clx). Contains 119,000 Brazilian Portuguese words.
British English Dictionary (sscebr2.clx). Contains British English words.
British Legal Dictionary (sscelb2.clx). Supplements the British English dictionary with words related to jurisprudence, law,criminology, and law enforcement.
British Medical Dictionary (sscemb2.clx). Supplements the British English dictionary with words related to anatomy, diseases, health care, generic and trademark drug names, and medical research.
Danish Dictionary (ssceda2.clx). Contains 102,000 Danish words.
Dutch Dictionary (scedu2.clx). Contains 178,000 Dutch words, including the" new spelling" (De Nieuwe Spelling).
Finnish Dictionary (sscefi2.clx). Contains 251,000 Finnish words.
French Dictionary (sscefr2.clx). Contains 137,000 French words, including both European and Canadian French.
German Dictionary (sscege2.clx). Contains 295,000 German words, including spelling reform (Die Neue Rechtschreibung).
Italian Dictionary (ssceit2.clx). Contains 283,000 Italian words.
Norwegian Bokmal Dictionary (sscenb2.clx). Contains 95,000 Norwegian words in the Bokmal dialect.
Portuguese Dictionary(sscepo2.clx). Contains 135,000 European Portuguese words.
Spanish Dictionary (sscesp2.clx). Contains 288,000 Spanish words.
Swedish Dictionary (sscesw2.clx). Contains 110,000 Swedish words.
Note: Dictionaries with a .clx extension are compressed and are not editable. Dictionaries with a .tlx extension, such as the user dictionary, are text dictionaries, which can be opened and edited in Windows Notepad.
