Children’s Home Society of West Virginia
Mission Statement and Strategic Vision

Who We Are…

The Children’s Home Society of West Virginia is a private, non-profit child welfare organization founded in 1896. The Society is a membership organization consisting of contributors, employees, volunteers and friends. We are licensed to provide child welfare and behavioral health services in West Virginia. We are a member agency of the West Virginia Alliance for Children, the Child Welfare League of America and  are fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children.

Comprehensive child welfare, behavioral health, social casework and advocacy services are provided to over 9,700 children each year from several locations throughout the state. Some of our current programs are adoption, foster care, child protective services, emergency child shelters, family preservation services, family support services, Right From The Start, truancy diversion, family visitation services, and child abuse and neglect prevention. Services are provided by professional staff and volunteers.

What We Hope To Accomplish…

Our mission is to promote the well being of children. Our current efforts are directed toward protecting and nurturing children while helping to enhance, preserve and strengthen families.

Strategic Vision…

The future we see for our children:  That the Children’s Home Society, working in concert with other organizations and institutions, assures that each child in West Virginia grows up in a safe and nuturing environment that provides for his or her basic needs.
