A. N. Gustke Child Shelter
1640 St. Marys Avenue

For more detail about the A.N. Gustke Child Shelter,
visit their web site at:
www.gustkeshelter.org.

The present Gustke Shelter, an older house at 1611 Latrobe Street, has become increasingly inadequate for the needs of staff and residents.  The opportunity to acquire the former Ogdin Funeral Home on St. Marys Avenue provided the opportunity to expand and improve services to children and families in the Wood County area.  The new Gustke Shelter will have twice the floor space of the current shelter, allowing more flexibility in housing children of different genders and ages and in programming.  Major renovations to the new facility began this summer.  A campaign to raise the $500,000 needed to pay for the purchase, renovation and outfitting of the new shelter has been underway for some months.
There’s still time to help with this shelter development project.  Find out how by contacting the Society’s Chief Executive Officer, Dennis Sutton, at 304-346-0795, or contact the Parkersburg Director of Community Based Services, Steve Tuck, at 304-485-0650 for specific needs and information about how the Neighborhood Investment Program Tax Credits may increase the impact of your gift.
