A Client's Story:
Sally is 21, employed part-time and expecting her first child before the holidays. When she first confirmed her pregnancy, Sally committed herself to being the best mom-in-waiting she could be through participation in the Right From The Start Program. With her RFTS worker's help, Sally has kept all her prenatal medical appointments, stopped smoking, learned about nutrition for herself and the baby, explored breast feeding, and knows the importance of avoiding all alcohol and drugs during her pregnancy.
During her last home visit, Sally and her RFTS worker avidly watched a video of her most recent ultrasound showing a healthy, male fetus. Sally's already planning for child care for her return to work and is stocking up on infant items she'll need as her income allows. Sally is an RFTS success story and an example of how the program can help reduce risk factors in high-risk pregnancies.
